Two-day meet for footwear artisans commences today

Kanpur: The 13th edition of Indian Footwear Components Manufacturers Association (IFCOMA) exhibition and buyers-sellers conference Showtech will be held at KLC Complex, Kanpur-Lucknow highway Banthar, Unnao on December 6 and 7. Besides Kanpur, footwear entrepreneurs and artisans from Banthar, Unnao, Jajmau and Agra and other nearby districts are expected to attend the event.Addressing to mediapersons, Superhouse Group chairman and former president of CLE CLE Mukhatarul Amin said over 70 manufacturers are participating in the event.Participating members from Delhi, Agra, Kanpur, Noida, Gurgaon, Chennai, and Bengaluru will come to this exhibition with their products and display them. Many footwear components will be displayed in this exhibition. These ingredients include labels adhesives, shoe finishes, chemicals, footwear machinery heat transfer labels, EVA foam, cellulose sheets, brush linings fabrics interlinings and other auxiliaries will be available.Amin said due to the increase in demand for shoes in the national and international markets, there is great potential for the business of footwear components. There has been a lot of progress in the footwear manufacturing sector in Kanpur in last few years. Sources said there has been a growth of 15 % in leather and related industries in Kanpur and central areas in about two years. Kanpur achieved exports worth Rs 6000 crore in the year 2022-23. It is also progressing in the domestic market by achieving a business of around Rs 2000 crore. CLE vice-chairman Rajendra Kumar Jalan said some international brands like Clarks, Ecco, Geox, Florsheim have invested in footwear and retail sectors due to which these brands are being manufactured in India, benefiting foot manufacturers. The high court has extended its interim order. The court clerk reported that the chargesheet against Diwakar has not been filed yet. Defence counsel presented the certified copy of the high court order in the Kanpur court. The police had registered a case against Diwakar and others on the complaint filed by the deceased farmers wife.Survey: Manufacturing recovers in November on strong demandManufacturing activity in India swiftly recovered in November as demand rose and input cost inflation slipped to a 40-month low. The S&P Global India Manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) increased to 56, indicating stronger operating conditions. The sector rebounded strongly from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, with GDP data showing a nine-quarter high of 13.9% in the July-September quarter. Price pressures eased substantially, with inflation at a 40-month low. New export orders continued to rise for the 20th consecutive month, though at a slower rate.
