Kanpur: The location of Sampat Rao Lavate and his associate Mahesh Maske, who decamped with gold and cash worth crores of rupees from bullion traders in Kanpur, has been traced in Maharashtra.Two teams comprising Special Investigation Team (SIT) officials have left for Maharashtra to nab them. Meanwhile, police have kept vigilance at several airports, including the one in Delhi and Mumbai, and on Nepal border and its surrounding districts.Police sources said as they hail from Sangli district of Maharashtra, famous for bullion artisans, two teams consisting of SIT sleuths, have been sent to raid their possible hideouts to nab them.Meanwhile, DCP(Central) Pramod Kumar said when searches were conducted at Sampats house and factory on Wednesday, nothing vital was found at both the places.His landlord told investigators that Sampat did not even pay two months rent. Investigation has revealed that Sampat has Rs 68,000 in his HDFC account, Rs 44,000 in IDFC and Rs 473 in UCO bank account, said the DCP.Kanpur Sarafa Association president Pankaj Arora said, More complaints related to fraud have been given by bullion traders.
