Admin gears up for grand celebration of Kanpur Boat Club’s 1st anniv on Dec 24

Kanpur: The district administration has intensified preparations for the grand celebration of the first anniversary of Boat club on December 24.On Thursday, divisional commissioner Amit Gupta held a review meeting with the Boat Club management and directed that three secretaries should prepare a plan to organize the event on a grand scale. The commissioner said establishment of the Boat Club is a part of the Ganga coastal development plan for development of Kanpur, due to which tourist activities have also started increasing in Kanpur.Every visitor to the Boat Club should feel that Kanpur has now become a prominent tourist spot of the region.Besides, attention should also be given to safety standards and Ganga river conservation and environmental balance for every activity taking place here, said the official, who instructed for fees reduction in public interest.Explaining about the decision taken earlier regarding expansion of the Boat club, Additional District Magistrate (City) and Kanpur Boat Club secretary (administration) Dr Rajesh Kumar said a floating restaurant will be established and cruise operation will be started soon. Also, there is a plan to construct a shed for the convenience of tourists, he said.Water Sports Secretary Neeraj Srivastava also said preparations are being made to organize the Ganga Water Rally from Kanpur to Prayagraj in February next year. Survey of the river route from Kanpur to Prayagraj has been done and correspondence has been done with the district administration of nearby districts Unnao, RaeBareli, Pratapgandh and Prayagraj.To increase public participation, the boat club management committee had revised the rates. Monthly subscription for morning walkers has been reduced to Rs 450 from Rs 600 or Rs 20 for one day upto 9 am. Similarly the rates of general tickets have been reduced to Rs 50 instead of Rs 80. Rates of pre-wedding shoots have also been reduced.
