Gun-toting Pramila Pandey files mayoral nomination

As per her affidavit, Pandey has two guns and two revolvers registered in her name. Apart from calling me 'pistoldhaari parshad', they also address me as 'chachi' (aunt), 'amma' (mother), 'mausi' (aunt) and 'didi' (sister)."

KANPUR: Known for carrying a revolver and a rifle with her wherever she goes for her self-defence, former Bharatiya Janata Party BJP ) corporator Pramila Pandey filed her nomination on Monday after being confirmed as the saffron party's mayoral candidate for the upcoming Kanpur Municipal Corporation elections.She listed a number of arms in the affidavit she filed along with her nomination papers. As per her affidavit, Pandey has two guns and two revolvers registered in her name. "Keeping a firearm for one's self defence is not a crime," said Pandey, on being asked about her fascination with firearms.Pandey said she hadn't experience any problems because of her firearms. "I believe that people like me because of the way I carry myself. People treat me with respect. Apart from calling me 'pistoldhaari parshad', they also address me as 'chachi' (aunt), 'amma' (mother), 'mausi' (aunt) and 'didi' (sister)." "Over the years, she has made a name for herself as a down-to-earth politician, going to police stations or government offices and even attending private functions with a revolver tugged at her waist on a scooter or by rickshaw.
