Punjab XI beat Haryana XI in cricket

Sports CorrespondentLudhiana December 5Punjab Divyang XI beat Haryana Divyang XI by 13 runs in the first match of the Inter-State Wheelchair Cricket Tournament played at the Jathedar Santokh Singh Cricket Stadium Duley village Ludhiana district on Saturday. Batting first after winning the toss Punjab XI scored 87 runs in 17.5 overs in which the main contribution came through skipper Bir Singh Sandhu who made 57 runs. Parmod Kumar state pracharak Wheelchair Support Society was the chief guest. Padam Passi chief organiser Ludhiana Deaf Cricket Federation gave away prizes to outstanding performers. Jasbir Singh sarpanch of the village along with Nirmal Singh and Tejinder Singh Dhaliwal was among others present during the prize distribution function.

Sports Correspondent Ludhiana December 5 Punjab Divyang XI beat Haryana Divyang XI by 13 runs in the first match of the Inter-State Wheelchair Cricket Tournament played at the Jathedar Santokh Singh Cricket Stadium Duley village Ludhiana district on Saturday. The matches are being organised for differently abled (divyang) players who take part in the event on their wheelchairs to mark World Disability Day. The Ludhiana Deaf Cricket Federation in association with the Wheelchair Support Society Punjab is organising matches for the Divyangs to encourage them and make them feel that they can also play like a normal and physically fit player. Batting first after winning the toss Punjab XI scored 87 runs in 17.5 overs in which the main contribution came through skipper Bir Singh Sandhu who made 57 runs. Chasing the target the visitors could muster 74 runs in 13.4 overs. For the winning side Baljeet Singh and Raja captured four and three wickets respectively. Parmod Kumar state pracharak Wheelchair Support Society was the chief guest. He congratulated the winners and said he was impressed with the skill and talent of the special players. Padam Passi chief organiser Ludhiana Deaf Cricket Federation gave away prizes to outstanding performers. He announced that Indias first divyang academy would be established in the city next year. Jasbir Singh sarpanch of the village along with Nirmal Singh and Tejinder Singh Dhaliwal was among others present during the prize distribution function.
