Addressing the dharna at Samrala Chowk senior party leader and former minister Maheshindeer Singh Grewal said the bandh had amply shown that people from all walks of life understood the issues for which the farmers were fighting. “The fight is not over rather the real fight will begin from tomorrow or day after when the farmers will go for another round of talks with the cabinet colleagues of Prime Minister Narendra Modi” he remarked. Grewal said the “black laws” enacted by the government to please its capitalist cronies were aimed at pushing the farmers towards penury. “If the NDA government insists that the MRP regime would remain in place why is it scared to give legislative support to the purchase of foodgrains and other crops at the MSP from farmers?” the Akali leader asked.
