Now the total positive patients in the district are 23607 and 869 are active cases. Those who lost their lives today included three men aged 65 62 and 46 respectively and a 72-year-old woman. Out of the total persons who tested positive 27 were those in contact with positive persons 41 were referred from flu corners while the tracing of 12 persons was in progress. Meanwhile a Covid awareness programme is being undertaken by the department of community medicine CMC in various areas.

Tribune News Service Ludhiana December 8 Four persons lost their life to coronavirus while 80 tested positive for Covid in the district today. Now the total positive patients in the district are 23607 and 869 are active cases. With four more people succumbing to the virus the death toll has gone up to 922. Those who lost their lives today included three men aged 65 62 and 46 respectively and a 72-year-old woman. The deceased had co-morbidities of hypertension and diabetes. Out of the total persons who tested positive 27 were those in contact with positive persons 41 were referred from flu corners while the tracing of 12 persons was in progress. According to the Health Department a total of 482880 samples had been taken out of which the reports of 481058 samples had been received. Of these 454062 samples were found negative while the reports of 1822 samples were pending. Till date 52436 persons have been kept under home quarantine in the district and at present the number of such persons is 2487. Today 190 persons were sent for home quarantine. Officials appealed to the residents to follow all directions of the Punjab Government and try to stay indoors and move out of their housesonly for essential works. Meanwhile a Covid awareness programme is being undertaken by the department of community medicine CMC in various areas. Public health experts have said the pandemic might evolve given the approaching winter and a slew of festivals low testing and learn-to-live-with-the-virus attitude.
