Tribune News Service Ludhiana December 9 As many as 60 fresh cases of Covid-19 have been reported from Ludhiana district on Wednesday. The virus has also claimed the life of a 82-year-old patient from the Kochar Nagar market area during the past 24 hours. The Health Department confirmed 77 cases including 60 from Ludhiana district and 17 from other districts or states. In Ludhiana district eight persons came in contact with positive patients 13 visited OPD and 31 with influenza-like illness visited the Flu Corner. Besides eight others including three healthcare workers and two international travellers have tested positive for the virus. Civil Surgeon Rajesh Bagga confirmed today that two more persons one each from Ludhiana and Sangrur districts died of the virus. Now the total number of persons from Ludhiana who lost their lives has reached 923 persons. As many as 400 persons from other districts succumbed to the virus. Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said a present there were 834 active patients in the district at present. He said till date a total of 485262 samples had been collected of which reports of 482617 samples have been received. Of these 455544 samples were found negative while reports of 2645 were pending. Now the total number of patients related to Ludhiana is 23667 while 3406 patients were related to other districts/states. Sharma said till date 52605 persons had been kept under home quarantine in the district and at present the number of such persons was 2561. Today 169 persons were sent for home quarantine the DC said. The Deputy Commissionersaid 2382 samples of suspected patients were sent for testing today and their results were expected shortly. He appealed to residents to follow all directions of the state government.
