Need to save institution of marriage

Legal CorrespondentLudhiana December 9Showing concerns over the rising matrimonial disputes in the society Justice S N Satyanarayana a judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court has stressed the need to save the institution of marriage through Alternative Disputes Resolution mechanism of mediation. He said the sensitivity attached with such disputes requires to be treated on a personal and urgent basis in order to ensure that the institution of marriage is safeguarded to maintain the essence of its sacrament. Such conflicts need to be facilitated through a mediator to protect the relationship he added. Justice Satyanrayana inspected the working of city courts accompanied by Sessions Judge Gurbir Singh Additional Sessions Judge Jagdeep Singh Marok for a considerable time. Later CJM-cum-Secretary DLSA Preeti Sukhija briefed him about the active role of the Legal Services Authority in providing free legal services to the needy section of the society and the role played during pandemic Covid-19.

Sometimes there are acts which take place not because of a malice intention but due to the heat of the moment that a person behaves in a manner in which he generally wouldnt. Such conflicts need to be facilitated through a mediator to protect the relationship he added. Justice Satyanrayana inspected the working of city courts accompanied by Sessions Judge Gurbir Singh Additional Sessions Judge Jagdeep Singh Marok for a considerable time. He interacted with senior mediator RD Chhabra a city lawyer and took first hand information about the success rate of mediation centres. Later CJM-cum-Secretary DLSA Preeti Sukhija briefed him about the active role of the Legal Services Authority in providing free legal services to the needy section of the society and the role played during pandemic Covid-19. He was in the city on a surprise checking of city courts during Covid-19. It was his first visit after becoming the administrative Judge of Ludhiana Sessions Division. During his visit he also interacted with the office-bearers of the District Bar Association.
