Finally, the BJP leaders were rescued after the intervention of the Home Ministry and the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the leaders were taken out at 4 am on Monday.
The aftermath of farmers in Punjab has intensified after BJP government brought three controversial Agri bills; the tensed situtaion against the agricultural laws has increased the troubles of the BJP. The family members of 15 BJP leaders and workers, who went to the house of BJP worker Ajay Chaudhary for tea at 4 pm on Sunday in Guru Arjun Dev Colony of Rajpura, were taken hostage by the farmers. The farmers cut off the power to the house and blocked the way by putting tractor-trolleys in front of their gate.
Big party leaders were also present in the worker`s house. Punjab BJP general secretary Subhash Sharma and Patiala party in-charge Bhupesh Agarwal were also present among the leaders.
After the matter heated up, the farmers who were furious attacked the police vehicles and broke the glasses. Meanwhile, a police commando was also seriously injured when a pot fell from the roof.
Finally, after the intervention of the Home Ministry and the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the leaders were taken out at 4 am on Monday.
About 300 workers of Sanyukt Kisan Morcha surrounded the house of BJP worker Ajay Chaudhary and talked about apologizing for the abusive words spoken by BJP leader Bhupesh Agarwal and his gunman who showed them pistol. The farmers had clearly said that only after this they would end their siege.
At 2 am on Sunday night, a meeting of 12 prominent leaders of farmer organizations was organized by the top police officers with the BJP leaders. In the meeting that lasted for an hour, the BJP leaders refused to apologize, on the contrary, they talked about registering a case against the farmer leaders.
