MADURAIThe Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Wednesday granted an interim injunction against a regulation of the University Grants Commission, which introduced additional requirements for being eligible to offer distance education courses. The petitioner, S. Santhosh Baboo, Registrar of Manomaniam Sundaranar University, had said in his petition that the new UGC amendment stated that a minimum of 3.26 cumulative grade point average (CGPA) on a point scale of four was required to offer distance education courses. This new criterion was unreasonable, he had said.
