more-in Madurai A public interest litigation petition filed before the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court sought a direction to the Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation to call tenders for digital signal distributors for the whole State uniformly rather than a select few districts. The petitioner, B. He alleged that Kaniyakumari, Salem, Nilgiris, Perambalur and Theni districts were omitted as politically influential persons were operating as district and taluk cable operators. Even in the case of 27 districts, only select taluks had been named in the notification. The petitioner said that there was no valid reason or justification for omitting the said districts. He added that this was deliberately done to benefit politically influential operators. Hearing the plea, a Division Bench of Justices M. M. Sundresh and N.
