more-in Theni A probe into the murder of an unidentified man whose body was found near Kodaikanal in September has revealed that an illegal affair had led to the murder of the man from Mangalore by his wife and her friend. The police have arrested the accused identified as Firdos and a car driver Mohammed Yasik. The police recovered the body of Mohammed Sameer of J.M. Road in Mangalore on September 26. “The body was highly decomposed beyond recognition. The details about the body were sent to all districts in Tamil Nadu and also to the neighbouring States,” the Theni Superintendent of Police V. Baskaran said. After a few days, the body was identified by the younger brother of the deceased with the details of the watch, belt and dress. “Only after the identification, our police team rushed to Mangalore and conducted an enquiry with Firdos,” he added. The enquiry revealed that Firdos, mother of a six-month-old son, had an illicit relationship with the driver and the duo conspired to kill him. As per their plan, they organised a tour and she engaged the driver Yasik. After visiting Bengaluru, she changed the plan to go to Kodaikanal. “On the way, Sameer was given a tender coconut laced with sedatives. After he fell unconscious, they proceeded towards Kodaikanal. However, on reaching Dum Dum Parai, the accused thought they had reached Kodaikanal and slit Sameer’s throat and tried to dump him in a gorge,” the SP said. However, the body got trapped in the plants within a few feet. After it got decomposed and a foul odour emanated from it, the police got the alert. The Devathanapatti police arrested the accused. They were sent to remand on Sunday. The SP appreciated the special team led by Devathanapatti Inspector of Police Sugumaran for cracking the complex case.
