Conference to boost medical infrastructure

MADURAIThe fifth edition of MEDex, a medical exhibition and conference organised by Madurai Zone of Confederation of Indian Industry, will be held here on Saturday and Sunday. The conference would help hospitals update themselves with the latest trends in healthcare industry and acquire affordable technology, a statement by the CII said. At a press meet held on Wednesday, the organisers said MEDex would project south Tamil Nadu as a medical hub and bring together suppliers, manufacturers and distributors of drugs and medical equipment and hospitals. Rohini Sridhar, Chief Operating Officer, Apollo Speciality Hospitals, Madurai, and chairperson of MEDex 2018, said India needed one lakh new beds in hospitals for the next 25 years to meet the demand.

Ramesh Varier, member of MEDex 2018 Steering Committee and Managing Director of AVN Arogya, said the conference would deal with subjects which were presently relevant to healthcare sector, including medico-legal issues and National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers accreditation. The statement said the exhibition would have 50 exhibitors.
