Students appear for SSLC exam

Collector M. Karunakaran inspected the Mary Sargent Higher Secondary School examination centre in Palayamkottai. Collector M. Ravikumar inspected the examination held at St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Millerpuram along with Chief Educational Officer Ramakrishnan. A total of 46,199 students, including 22,639 boys and 23,560 girls, appeared for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate examination that commenced in 150 centres across the district on Wednesday. Nagercoil25,252 students out of the total number of 25,483 (12,706 boys and 12,777 girls) applied appeared for the examination in Kanyakumari district in 108 examination centres. The dyslexia and differently-abled students would be given an hour extra for the examination, S. Bala, Chief Education Officer (in charge) said.

Thoothukudi In neighbouring Thoothukudi, 25,418 students, including 12,467 boys and 12,951 girls, from 294 schools, including 84 government schools, 130 government aided schools and 80 private schools, appeared for the SSLC examination being conducted in 86 centres across the district. Moreover, 853 private candidates also appeared for the examination. A total of 185 teachers have been included in the flying squads. Collector M. Nagercoil 25,252 students out of the total number of 25,483 (12,706 boys and 12,777 girls) applied appeared for the examination in Kanyakumari district in 108 examination centres. The number of students applied for examination in three education districts are: Nagercoil 8318 — (4154 boys, 4164 girls); Thuckalay — 9130 (4595 boys and 4535 girls) and Kuzhithurai — 8035 (3957 boys and 4078 girls). Forty-six flying squads and 165 static surveillance teams have been formed to prevent any malpractices. Besides these, special flying squads headed by officials in the rank of Joint Director, Chief Educational Officer and District Education Officers have also been formed. 89 scribes will write examination for visually challenged and dyslexia students. The dyslexia and differently-abled students would be given an hour extra for the examination, S. Bala, Chief Education Officer (in charge) said. Joint Director of Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) V. Kumar monitored the examinations.
