Many Youth Congress leaders including Mithun Rai, Praveen Chandra Alva, A C Vinayraj were detained by the police.  The Youth Congress had planned to hold the rally from Clock Tower to DC`s office. However, it is learnt that they did not have valid permission for the rally.

Before the rally police intervened so that they could start rounded up the activists and took them away in vans. Protestors chanted slogans against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government and termed the Farm Bills as being `anti-farmer` and pro-corporates.

Mithun Rai said in the rally, "The government has become a puppet at the hands of the investors in bringing this anti-farmer bill. Three farm bills were passed without any discussion. These bills will severely affect the farmers. We assure that we stand with the farmers. It is condemnable to snatch away the rights of farmers." District Congress held a protest along with other organizations against the Farm Bills passed by the Parliament. 

Farmers across the country are protesting against ,Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020, passed by Parliament during the curtailed monsoon session that ended on Wednesday September 23.
