Mandya: Two farmers from Mandya district have moved Supreme Court over the Cauvery issue. K Kemparaju, a farmer from Tarikere in Maddur, and RP Ravi, an ex-servicemen-cum-farmer from Pandavapura, have filed the petition before the apex court with a request to consider them as petitioners in the matter.Speaking to TOI, Kemparaju said the recent order had dealt a big blow to the farmers and the residents of Cauvery basin in the state. If Cauvery River Management Authority can issue an order to release water to Tamil Nadu despite having scarcity of water in Karnataka, it should also issue directive to ensure enough water was available to Karnataka as well. Be it the rain, floods or drought, all these are natural phenomenons. This being the fact, issuing directives to release the water will only put farmers into further deep trouble, he added. Efforts should be made to form a committee to study the current situation to appraise the Supreme Court and the Cauvery Water Management Authority, said Kemparaju. tnnWe also published the following articles recentlyProtests erupt in Karnataka as Supreme Court refuses to interfere with orders to release Cauvery water to Tamil NaduProtests broke out in various parts of Karnatakas Cauvery river basin districts after the Supreme Court upheld orders to release water to Tamil Nadu.
