DGP to appoint senior officer to probe drug seizure: Bhujbal

Nashik: The state police will carry out an investigating into the functioning of the drug manufacturing unit and the godown where the drugs were stored, said state food and civil supplies minister Chhagan Bhujbal on Sunday. The director general of police will appoint a senior officer to conduct the probe, Bhujbal added.Talking to TOI, Bhujbal said the information that the drug manufacturing unit had been functioning since 2021, and that even the police were unaware of it, had shocked him.The minister expressed concerns that even the food and drugs department (FDA) did not know about drugs being manufactured in a unit in a village in Nashik. The FDA should at least know what products the medicine manufacturing companies make, he added.Bhujbal said the police should really make all efforts to prevent such activities in future. Jarange also called on OBC leaders to remember that they are in power because of Marathas and not to hinder their cause. He alleged that Bhujbal had asked his supporters to prevent his meeting from happening.
