Kumbh plans with future development of Nashik in mind: Guardian minister

Nashik: The district guardian minister, Dada Bhuse, said on Monday the Kumbh mela plan would be prepared keeping in mind the future development of Nashik.The plan is being developed by the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) and other government machinery and will also include proposals by various organizations, institutes, and individuals, Bhuse said.The guardian minister held interactive sessions with the architects and engineers in the city in view of the coming Kumbh Mela to be held in 2027.NMC commissioner Ashok Karanjkar, City Engineer Shivkumar Vanjari, executive engineer (PWD) Sandesh Shinde, president of Nashik Architects & Engineers Association Narendra Bhuse, and other dignitaries were present at the meeting.Nashik is one of the four cities where the Kumbh Mela is held every 12 years. The city hosted Khumb Mela in 2015, which was attended by over 2 crore devotees and sadhus.The suggestions included the demolition of Vastrantar Griha, a structure used as a changing room by devotees on the bank of the Godavari river near Ramkund, ensuring availability of pure water at Ramkund for the sadhus and devotees coming to Nashik to take a holy dip in the Ramkund, and widening of the existing roads in the city.The minister also said that all efforts were being made to ensure maximum availability of funds from the state as well as the central government.Bhuse said that he was also pursuing the Kikwi dam project, considering the future requirement of water for the city. The NEERI team, led by senior scientist Paras Pujari, visited the area and held discussions with environmentalists and members of the Purohit Sangh. NEERI will study the safety implications of removing the concrete and submit a report within a week or two. The report will be presented to the divisional commissioner during a meeting of the high-powered committee.State govt unlikely to bail out Nashik dist co-op bank: BhuseThe cash-strapped Nashik District Central Cooperative (NDCC) bank is unlikely to receive financial assistance from the state government, according to guardian minister Dada Bhuse. The bank is struggling to recover Rs 1,900 crore from defaulters, and the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has warned that the bank could lose its license if loan recovery does not improve. Bhuse emphasized that it is the responsibility of all stakeholders, including the bank itself, Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACS), and defaulters, to work together to save the institution. The bank is preparing an action plan to address the situation.Raut gets notice in defamation case by BhuseShiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut has been issued a notice to appear in court on October 23 in a defamation case filed by district guardian minister Dada Bhuse. Bhuse alleges that Raut published a news item in the partys mouthpiece, Samna, with malicious intent. Raut has not responded to the notice. In another news, the cash-strapped Nashik District Central Cooperative bank is unlikely to receive financial assistance from the state government. The bank is struggling to recover Rs 1,900 crore from defaulters.
