Nashik: Winnability of candidates would be a key factor in seat distribution among Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) partners for the upcoming state and Lok Sabha polls, state Congress chief Nana Patole said. Partners of the MVA — Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (Sharad Pawar) — will ensure proper seat distribution based on the strength of each party and winnability of candidates. As far as the Congress is concerned, we have identified a few seats in North Maharashtra, where we feel the party has a good chance of winning, he told reporters in Nashik, where he reviewed the partys situation in Lok Sabha and assembly constituencies of the region on Saturday along with Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Balasaheb Thorat and Solapur City Central MLA, Pranati Shinde.Patole said voters across the country want the return of a Congress-led government at the Centre as well as many states where assembly elections are due, including Maharashtra. INDIA will trump the BJP convincingly in the five states that are going to polls, he added. The MPCC chief slammed the BJP for misusing central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Income Tax (I-T) department against opposition leaders. Meanwhile, Thorat accused the state government of being indifferent to the poor condition of the Mumbai-Nashik national highway. We had raised the issue in the previous assembly session but there is no improvement on the highway. It still takes over six hours to reach Mumbai from Nashik. Commuters have started experiencing backaches due to the poor condition of the road, he said and questioned why the government was collecting toll despite the poor condition of the highway. We also published the following articles recentlyMaharashtra: Container overturns hitting traffic on Mumbai-Nashik highwayA container carrying angle iron overturned on the Mumbai-Nashik highway in Maharashtra, causing a traffic jam for over 12 hours.
