Police arrest two for theft of cash & jewellery worth 24L

Nashik: The Ahmednagar police arrested two suspects from Marathwada on Monday for stealing cash and jewellery worth over Rs 24 lakh from a jewellery store on the night between September 30 and October 1.Senior inspector Chandrakant Yadav said: We arrested two suspects from Marathwada and are interrogating them. We will soon arrest other criminals involved in the theft. Yadav refrained from naming the arrested suspects as it would alert the other criminals. About five to six burglars entered the Saraf Bazaar area of Ahmednagar, under the Kotwali police station and committed the theft in the shop of jeweller Santosh Verma. As per the CCTV footage available with the police, the burglars had broke open the shutter of the jewellery storeto enter the store. The watchmen in the Saraf Bazar area informed the police as they spotted the burglary. Upon realising the polices arrival, burglars left the spot in their car with the stolen cash and jewellery. The police found that the car used by the burglars during the theft was abandoned in Yeola and was stolen from the Nashik Road area a few days back.
