2 pedestrians killed in road accidents

Nashik: Two pedestrians died in separate road accidents in the city on Tuesday. While a 58-year-old pedestrian was killed in the Satpur area when hit by a biker, an unknown person was killed in the Jail Road area of the city. The pedestrian killed in Satpur was identified as Rajendra Ghodke, a resident of Swarbaba Nagar in Satpur. The police said that Ghodke had been taking a morning walk with his wife on October 5 when the accident had taken place. At around 6am, near the Satpur police station, he was hit by a biker. He suffered serious injuries in the accident. He was immediately shifted to a private hospital for treatment. Ghodke succumbed to the his injuries on Tuesday morning. In the other accident, an unidentified person was found dead after being hit by a truck. The police said the concerned person was knocked down around 8.15pm near the bridge at Nawale Chawl on Jail Road. In the first incident, a motorist was allegedly hit by a truck driver reversing his vehicle on Church Road. The driver, Sumant Kumar Shah, was caught by a witness and has been arrested. In the second accident, a tempo driver died after his vehicle overturned on the Geeta Colony Pushta road. The driver, Nagender Singh, was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
