City police to event organisers: Make CCTV cover mandatory

Nashik: The city police have made installation of closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras mandatory for all the organisers of garba and other cultural events during the upcoming Navaratra festival.Similarly, organisers of the fair organised at the Mumbai Naka ground during the festival will also have to install the cameras. A large number of mandals from across the city organize cultural events during the Navaratra festival and it is attended by scores of people. Hence, as a precautionary measure, the police have started appealing to the office-bearers of the mandals approaching them for getting permission to install CCTV cameras at the venue. This has been done so that in the event of any untoward incident the police can watch the footage and take necessary action. The anti-social elements also refrain from indulging in any criminal activity out of the fear of getting caught on the cameras. The police have already started conducting meetings with the organisers to make them abreast with the rules that should not be violated.The Navaratra mandals are currently working overtime to install pandals and make arrangements for the garba and dandia events.We also published the following articles recentlyPuja organisers cannot put up barricades on their own: PoliceThe Kolkata Police has instructed local traffic guards to ensure that local clubs do not set up barricades without consulting the police. They are also required to ensure that residents are not inconvenienced by unnecessary barricades. The decision came after reports of barricades being put up in various areas without reason. The traffic police will make decisions based on local inputs and will only install barricades where necessary. The aim is to maintain logical and efficient control of vehicular speed, particularly for two-wheelers.Culture focus: Durga Puja events to turn city into BengaluruThis years Durga Puja celebrations in Bengaluru are set to be vibrant and diverse, with various thematic events planned. One association is recreating an 18th-century style arched portico, while another is installing a bamboo-cloth replica of India Gate. The aim is to bring to life the history and traditions of the zamindars of 18th-century Bengal. Other associations are focusing on themes such as world peace and showcasing Bengals folk art and craft. The celebrations will include paintings, music performances, and displays of visually challenged childrens artwork.Mumbai and outskirts to come alive with annual garba events from Sunday onwardSharadiya Navratra, a nine-day festival, is set to begin on October 15 in Mumbai. This year, with Covid restrictions lifted, the dancing circuit is expected to be exciting. Top artists from Mumbai and Gujarat, including Musa Paik, Preeti-Pinky, Falguni Pathak, Parthiv Gohil, and Geeta Rabari, will be performing at various events. Political organizers, particularly saffron parties, are taking the lead in hosting musical events ahead of the 2024 General Election. The events will offer a mix of traditional and contemporary garba performances.
