Nashik city reports dip in dengue cases

Nashik: The city has reported a drop in number of new dengue cases in the first week of October. As many as 12 new cases of dengue were reported in the first week of October as compared to 36 cases reported in the first week of September.A total of 261 positive cases of dengue were reported in September, while the number in August was 117. With the addition of 12 new cases in October the total number of dengue patients this year has gone up to 534. An NMC official said with the withdrawal of monsoon and rise in day temperature are the main reason for decline in dengue cases.Moreover, the positivity rate of dengue has also reduced from 10% last month to 2% in the first week of October. We are expecting that the number of patients will at least reduce and that the positivity rate will also drop further, the official said. In just eight days of October, over 24% of the total cases have been registered. Patna accounted for the highest number of cases on Monday with 30, followed by Bhagalpur, Saran, Nawada, and Vaishali. Currently, there are 277 dengue patients receiving treatment at various government hospitals in the state. The district magistrate of Patna has stated that there is an adequate supply of platelets and beds for dengue patients.In four weeks, dengue numbers surge by 25,000 across BengalThe number of dengue cases in the state of Kolkata has increased nearly threefold in the past four weeks. In the 40th week, there were a total of 41,410 cases reported across the state. Experts predict that the number of cases will continue to rise until the end of October. Although Kolkata used to be the epicenter of the outbreak in previous years, this year the number of cases in the city is relatively low. The rural areas have been more affected, contributing about 64% of the total caseload. North 24 Parganas is the worst affected district.Dengue cases cross 3k-mark in UttarakhandThe number of dengue cases in Uttarakhand, India has surpassed 3,000, with over 1,000 cases in Dehradun and 736 in Pauri district. The state recorded 59 new cases on Friday, bringing the total to 3,046. The capital, Dehradun, has the highest number of cases at 1,023. While the number of cases is decreasing, officials urge the public to remain cautious. The virulence of the virus has also diminished, and measures such as creating containment zones have been effective in managing the problem.
