1,926 villages give soil for ‘Meri Mati Mera Desh’ event

Nashik: As a part of the nationwide Meri Mati Mera Desh programme, urns filled with soil from villages across all 15 talukas in Nashik district and one from Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) ceremoniously reached Nashik Zilla Parishad (ZP) in the presence of dignitaries led by district guardian minister Dada Bhuse.People from all 1,926 villages in Nashik district participated by contributing a handful of soil from their villages to fill the urns of their respective talukas by organizing various programmes that saw participation from dignitaries, elected representatives, common citizens, students, business people and even the families of the martyrs.It is a moment of pride for us that thousands of people participated in the event. The soil collected from the villages will contribute to the making of Amrit Vatika, besides the National War Memorial. This will be a symbol of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, said Dada Bhuse.Union minister of state for health and family welfare Dr Bharti Pawar, minister of state for food, civil supplies and consumer protection Chhagan Bhujbal, MLA Dilip Bankar, divisional commissioner Radhakrishna Game, chief executive officer of Zilla Parishad Ashima Mittal along with block development officers, sarpanch and citizens were present at the programme organised at Kalidas Kalamandir on Friday. Dr Pawar said It is not just the soil in the urns but the history that tells the story of the heroes who died for freedom. Selected students receive a monthly stipend and are absorbed into the organization after completing the first six months of the program. The initiative aims to bring more women into the pharmaceutical industry and develop future leaders in the sector. The program has seen increased enrollment since its launch in 2022.Visakhapatnam: Industry-academia programme gives wings to daughters of the soilPfizer, in partnership with Gitam Deemed to be University, has launched the Pfizer Autonomous Team (PAT) program in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The program selects disadvantaged girl students from rural areas and offers them a three-year opportunity to earn while learning. Students gain hands-on experience at the Pfizer plant and receive a monthly stipend of Rs 12,000. The program aims to bring more women into the pharmaceutical industry and provide future leaders in the sector. The program has expanded from 47 students in 2022 to 270 students in three cohorts.Worker trapped under soil at Smart City worksite diesA 28-year-old labourer died after being trapped under a pile of soil at a Smart City work site in Ribandar, Goa. The labourer was working on laying a sewer pipeline when the incident occurred. Despite efforts to rescue him, he was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. The contractor and site supervisor are expected to be arrested for negligence. Eyewitness statements have been recorded and an FIR has been registered against the accused. The police stated that the labourer was not provided with safety gear.
