Ex-bank employee cheats 3 account holders of ₹28 lakh

Nashik: The Ghoti police have booked a 28-year-old man on the charge of using the credit cards of three people and cheating them of Rs 28 lakh.The account holders had given their credit cards to the suspect, who was a sales manager attached to the Ghoti branch of the bank, for cancellation. The suspect had taken signatures of the three account holders on few forms when the cards were surrendered, a police officer said.The sales manager then used the signatures to change their phone numbers and e-mail ids attached to the cards.Subsequently, he used the cards for making transactions to the tune of Rs 28 lakh, the officer added.The cheating came to light when a recovery team went to one of the account holders for recovering the dues. When the recovery team went to the other two account holders they also informed that they had surrendered their credit cards long ago.After the fraud came to light, the bank officials learned that the suspect sales manager had resigned in October 2021.
