Patrolling to increase in Nashik city

Nashik: City police commissioner Ankush Shinde has directed top police officers to increase patrolling to prevent untoward incidents against the backdrop of hunger strikes under way in different areas of the city.Senior officials, including deputy commissioners of police (DCP), assistant commissioners of police (ACP) and police inspectors (PI) were present at the meeting held in view of the various protests taking place in the state on the issue of Maratha reservation.Senior police officials said that apart from patrolling, they had stepped up intelligence gathering to ensure there are no untoward incidents.As many as 12 strike force teams, each comprising 10 officials and personnel, have been set up. The compliance by apartments is underway with a survey of security arrangements. While the law and order situation is peaceful, there has been an increase in cybercrime, prompting the establishment of a robust mechanism to counter it. Technology, including AI and facial recognition, will play a significant role in crime control. The newly established Special Crime Unit has achieved good results in probing complex cases. The Durga Puja was successfully conducted with new inspectors in-charge adjusting to their jurisdictions.
