7 roads closed in Nashik city to prevent congestion, snarls

Nashik: The Nashik city police have closed seven roads for vehicular traffic in the old city to avoid traffic congestion on account of huge rush for Diwali purchases.These roads will remain shut from October 4 to October 15, from 8 am to 10 pm.These roads are from Malegaon Stand to Raviwar Karanja, Delhi Darwaja to Dhumal Point, Rokdoba Point to Sakshi Ganesh Temple in Bhadrakali, Badshahi Corner to Gadge Maharaj statue, Nepali Corner to Dhumal Point via Main Road, Sangli Bank Signal to Dhumal Point and towards Main Road and Raviwar Karanja to Dhumal Point.Motorists from Malegaon Stand to Raviwar Karanja should instead take the route from Malegaon Stand, Makhmalabad Naka, Ramwadi Bridge, Baijabai Chhavni, Chopda Lawns and reach Gangapur Naka to move elsewhere, while motorists from CBS and Shalimar moving to and from the old city areas should use the Shalimar – Khadkali Signal - Dudh Bazar Chowk route.Motorists have been requested to park their vehicles at Godaghat under Gadge. The road space, including the center of the road, has been occupied by metro rail for building tunnels, causing delays for motorists. The presence of a mall and a cinema theater on Whites Road adds to the heavy traffic. The situation is worsened during weekends when cars queue up in front of the cinema parking lot. Barricades placed around metro rail worksites obstruct the flow of traffic and make lane switching difficult. Additional lighting and traffic police presence are needed to manage the congestion caused by the metro work.
