Nashik West has lowest ratio of women electors at just 855

Nashik: The ratio of women to men electors registered in the Nashik West assembly constituency is the lowest in the district, prompting the administration to take special measures to increase the representation.The ratio represents the number of women electorsregistered per 1,000 men. This ratio in the Nashik West assembly segment is just 855 as compared to the average ratio of 914 in the district.The ratio is very low here. The district election officer, Jalaj Sharma, who is also collector, has decided to take up various measures to increase the enrolment of women, said deputy district election officer Shashikant Mangrule.The district has 15 state assembly constituencies. Nashik West has the highest number of registered electors in the district. The constituency with the best ratio in the district is Kalwan, which has 956 women electors per 1,000 men. This is followed by Nashik Central with a ratio of 955.The district has total 46.50 lakh electors as per the latest summary list. Among these, 24.29 lakh are men and 22.20 lakh women. This amounts to 52.25% registration of men among the electors as compared to 47.75% women. Among the constituencies with low women representation in the district are Yeola at 898, Malegaon (Outer) at 899 and then Sinnar at 900.Election department officials said the administration is concerned about the low number of women enrolment. It may be noted that there are 4.33 lakh electors in Nashik West constituency, of which, 1.99 lakh women and 2.3 lakh men.Nashik East constituency has 3.71 lakh voters (1.8 lakh women and 1.9 lakh men). The administration has decided to seek the help of womens wing of various political parties and the non-governmental organisations to increase the enrolment.The administration is taking efforts to find out the duplicate entries in the assembly constituency. This is common during summary revision of electors photoroll conducted from October. The revision aims to include newly eligible and previously left-out voters, with anyone who will turn 18 by January 1, 2024, able to apply. The revision will continue until December 9, with the final publication of the electoral roll on January 5. Citizens who will turn 18 on subsequent dates in 2024 can also apply. The Delhi chief electoral officer has invited recognised parties to help clean the roll.
