Court issues bailable warrant against Raut

Nashik: A bailable warrant was issued by the Malegaon court on Saturday against Shiv Sena (UBT) Sanjay Raut for failing to appear in a defamation case suit filed against him by district guardian minister Dada Bhuse. The court of additional chief judicial magistrate (Malegaon) Tejwant Singh Sandhu issued the warrant as Raut failed to appear for the second consecutive hearing.The first hearing was held on October 23. Rauts counsel MY Kale said, He (Raut) could not appear before the court as political leaders have been banned from entering the villages as part of the Maratha quota agitation. It would be risky for him to travel to Malegaon from Mumbai.He added, Accordingly, a written statement was presented to the court requesting the next date when Raut could be present for getting bail. The AAP expressed concerns that Kejriwal may be arrested, which would impact the functioning of the Delhi government.Court issues notice in plea filed by priestThe high court of Bombay at Goa has issued a notice to the state government and Vasco police station in response to a petition filed by Fr Bolmax Pereira, the parish priest of Chicalims St Francis Xavier Church. Pereira is seeking the quashing of an FIR registered against him in August for his comments on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He was booked under Section 295 of the Indian Penal Code for defiling a place of worship and Section 504 for intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace. Pereira has expressed regret for his remarks and claimed they were taken out of context.
