Re-route Pune Express via Nashik, says MNS

Nashik: The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and the railway passengers have demanded rerouting the Bhuswal-Pune Express via Nashik-Panvel.The Bhusawal-Pune-Bhusawal Hutatma Express initially took the Bhusawal-Manmad-Nashik-Kalyan-PanvelLonavala-Pune route, but it was closed in May this year owing to technical reasons. With the reroute, the train will now travel on the Amravati-Bhusawal-Manmad-Pune route.This means that Nashik passengers will have to voyage to Manmad to use the train. However, the train is no longer accessible to Nashik, Igatpuri, Kalyan, Panvel and Lonavala commuters.The MNS delegation, led by Nitin Pandit, Sahebrao Kharjul, Pramod Sakhare, Vinayak Pagare, and others, met Nashik Road station manager Rakesh Kuthar and presented him with a memorandum. Addressed to the Railway Board chairman, the MNS in the memorandum has said, The train was initially introduced between Nashik and Pune, later extended up to Nashik and then to Manmad. The train is very popular among passengers. However, the railways have decided to reroute the train. The suspension is due to the installation of steel girders for the MRTS extension at St Thomas Mount. Commuters argue that the railway should schedule repairs and yard work at night or on Sundays to minimize disruption. The cancellation of services without informing the public or providing alternative arrangements has caused further frustration. Railway officials claim that the trains are cancelled based on the availability of resources and peak travel times.Railways to run 5 special trains passing OdishaThe Railways will operate five special trains during Diwali and Chhat festival to accommodate the additional rush of passengers. One of the trains will run via Bhubaneswar, and another will be an unreserved special train. The busy routes of Bhubaneswar-Chennai and Howrah-Chennai will also have special trains running. These trains aim to provide relief to passengers traveling to or from Chennai during the festival period. Additionally, there will be a special train from Maltipatpur to Gomti Nagar and vice versa to cater to the puja rush.
