Man duped of ₹9.3 lakh in cyber fraud

Nashik: The Cyber police station booked a man on Tuesday for allegedly duping a Nashik resident for Rs 9.3 lakh.The victim was lured into a work-from-home activity in which he was asked to deposit funds on various occasions in different bank accounts.The complainant said that he came in contact with some people on social media platforms, where he was told a way to earn good money through a work-from-home job. He first asked the victim to pay an amount in the name of prepaid tasks. Following the payment, he was given some work and was promised to be rewarded after completion. The accused kept demanding more money. The victim transferred a total of Rs9.3 lakh before he realized he had been scammed.Realizing that he had been cheated, the complainant registered an FIR in Mumbai, which was later transferred to the Deolali Camp police station as the complainant is a native of Deolali Camp. The Deolali Camp police have transferred the case to the Cyber police station.
