Nashik: The district election office has temporarily appointed 113 booth level officers, replacing those who refused to take up the assignment, and moved Bombay High Court about their appointments.Election department officials said that since the high court is hearing the matter, the department has currently appointed a new set of BLOs temporarily without dismissing the earlier appointed officers.Alternative officials have been appointed without taking any action against those appointed earlier. Since the summary revision of photo rolls is being conducted as per the directives of the ECI, we had to make appointments for expediting the works, said the official.Though the process of enrolment, change in address or other details or even shifting of address or deleting double entries can be carried out online, there are people who want to do it physically.People go to the booth level office, search for entries and names, hence a person is required at the office. Besides the exercise of going house to house, verification of names needs to be carried out. Hence, the appointment has been done, said the officer. It may be noted that the highest number of BLOs who have challenged the orders is from Nashik West and it is the same constituency where the highest number of voters is enrolled. This is the assembly constituency where the ratio of female voters to male voters is lowest at 855 per 1000 males. The district has a total of 46.50 lakh voters as per the draft summary list announced by the office of district election office on October 27. The district has 24.29 lakh male and 22.20 lakh female voters. We also published the following articles recentlyGovernment appoints officers to help curb film piracyIn response to the film industrys request to combat film piracy, the Indian Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has appointed 12 nodal officers to address complaints and has given them the authority to remove pirated content from digital platforms.
