Asst registrar demands bribe, booked

Nashik: The Nashik anti-corruption bureau (ACB) registered a case on Thursday with the Mumbai Naka police against an assistant registrar of the cooperatives department in Niphad for demanding a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh from a citizen.The citizen had wanted the cooperatives officer to send a positive report about his complaint applications to the senior officers of the cooperatives department.However, on November 6 the officer demanded a bribe of Rs1.5 lakh from the citizen.The complainant went to the ACB, and the bureau investigated the case. After the case was verified, the ACB booked the the officer, who is also a class 1 officer, with the Mumbai Naka police station on Thursday. The officer was booked under section 7 (offence relating to public servant being bribed) and 7A (taking undue advantage to influence public servant by corrupt or illegal means or by exercise of personal influence) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.We also published the following articles recently2 railway parcel officers booked for Rs 13 lakh bribeSeveral railway officials in Mumbai, including a chief parcel supervisor and a deputy station manager, have been booked by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for corruption. The CBI discovered the corrupt practices during a surprise check of the station premises, and evidence of the bribes was found on the officials mobile phones.Elvish Yadav case: Investigating officer shunted, case transferred to another police stationInvestigating officer SI Sandeep Chaudhary, who was handling the snake venom case involving YouTuber Elvish Yadav, has been transferred. The case has been reassigned to another police station. The forensic tests on the vial of suspected snake venom are pending, and further inquiries will depend on the results. Elvish Yadav has not been summoned for questioning yet. He denies the allegations and is willing to cooperate with the investigation. The case was initiated based on a complaint from an animal rights group. Elvish Yadav was briefly detained in Kota but was released as he was not a wanted individual.Head constable caught accepting bribe of Rs 35,000 in NashikA police head constable in Nashik, India was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000. The constable had demanded Rs 1 lakh from a vehicle driver to avoid taking action against him. After negotiations, the constable settled for Rs 70,000 and accepted the first instalment of Rs 35,000. The driver reported the incident to the ACB, who then set up a trap and apprehended the constable. The ACB has urged the public to report any instances of bribery and not to pay bribes to public servants.
