Firecrackers worth ₹24L seized from shopowner

Nashik: The Nashik police have seized firecrackers worth Rs 24 lakh and booked its owner for putting up a stall in the Shikhrewadi area of Upnagar without taking permission from police and other departments concerned. The Upnagar police said a case has been registered against the firecracker stall owner under sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 285 (negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter), 286 (negligent conduct with respect to explosive substance) and 336 (rash or negligent act endangering human life or personal safety of others). The Upnagar police said the firecracker stall owner had put up stall. The police said that setting up a stall in a residential locality is dangerous. The firecracker stall owner had not taken permission of the police, the municipal corporation, the fire brigade department or the state power distribution utility. The man, identified as Shambhu Nath Gupta, was stopped by police near Bapu Park and subsequently arrested. Further investigations are ongoing in connection with the case.
