Cybercrooks cheat man of ₹4.3L in credit card fraud

Nashik: A Kamatwad resident was allegedly cheated by cybercriminals for Rs 4.3 lakh under the garb of verification of a credit card.As per the complaint filed by the victim with the cyber police station, on October 19, the suspects called up the victim and asked him to activate the credit card.The person used the Voice of Internet Protocol technique that masks the actual phone number of the caller with the number chosen by him.So when the victim received the call, it was not that number that reflected on his mobile phone, said Cyber Police Inspector Riyaz Shaikh.Shaikh further added that this resulted in the victim believing the caller, and he shared his credit card details. The victim realized he was duped when he received a bill of Rs4.3 lakh from the credit card company.The case is being investigated.
