Nashik: Revenue minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil has claimed that the rift between the Maratha and the Other Backward Class communities was being engineered and that it was not a good sign for a state like Maharashtra. Vikhe Patil, who was in Nashik on Saturday, said sentiments were running high on the issue of the reservation for the Maratha community with political leaders attacking each other. The state government has already spelt out its agenda on reservation to the Maratha community and is taking steps on the same lines. At such times, there are those from the ruling parties and the opposition making loose comments. This should be stopped immediately, he said while speaking to the media. It may be noted that state minister for food and civil supplies Chhagan Bhujbal had recently aired his view that he would not allow any kind of reservation for Maratha community to hamper the quota of any other community. At a time when the community is seeking reservation, there are some people who are engineering the rift between the OBCs and the Marathas. This is not good for the state and its development, the revenue minister said. He added that the state government is well aware of the issue and is working to ensure that Marathas get reservation without impacting the quota of other communities, including the Other Backward Class.Vikhe Patil also said that the comments from the leaders was tarnishing the image of the state government. When asked about Tanaji Sawants statement in an alleged video clip where he is seen talking to a police officer and claiming that he (Sawant) does not even listen to the chief minister, the minister said, each and every one must honour the decorum and talk.We also published the following articles recentlyMaratha quota: Chhagan Bhujbals statement 100% incorrect, says minister Shambhuraje DesaiThe statement made by Maharashtra food and civil supply minister Chhagan Bhujbal, opposing the inclusion of Marathas in the OBC quota, has caused tensions within the Mahayuti alliance.
