SDRF funds to be used for works at Saptashrungi Gad

Nashik: The works related to disaster management at Saptashrungi Gad will be carried out from the funds of the State Disaster Response Force, the high power committee headed by chief secretary of state said on Friday.The Chief Secretary of Maharashtra, Manoj Saunik, conducted a video conference meeting on Friday with the district administration to discuss the Saptashrungi Gad development plan.The state government had approved the plan and the meeting aimed to discuss proposals and allocation of funds in detail.Nashik collector, Jalaj Sharma said, A meeting was held to discuss the planning and proposal of the development activities approved by state government at Saptashrungi Gad. The HPC decided to carry out the some of the works from the funds allocated to the respective departments. The developmental plan to be carried out through the funds provided by the SDRF, included Rs 35 crore for the works to be carried out to prevent land slide on the Sapatashrungi Gad – Nanduri road. Rs 1.92 crore is sanctioned for maintaining rock fall protection system on the temple.The Maccaferri Rockfall Protection system has been installed at the upper side of the temple shrine to prevent boulders from falling on the temple. The other works to be carried out from the special funds by the state include the raising of hi-mast electric lamps, construction of certain structures for the pilgrims in the premises of the temple including dome, construction of bus terminus for MSRTC and the police station, which are much needed during the yatra time.We also published the following articles recentlyRepairs carried out at twin towers: AWHOThe Army Welfare Housing Organisation (AWHO) has conducted immediate repairs at Towers B and C of Chander Kunj Society in Kochi. A 13,000-page report, including the bill of quantities, has been submitted, and the tender for repairs has been uploaded. However, some residents are disrupting the repair efforts, which AWHO says is against the interest of the majority.SIT to re-examine public works through MLA fundsThe Maharashtra Lokayukta has instructed the Pune divisional commissioner and district collector not to make any payments to contractors for the construction of internal roads and drainage in 20 cooperative housing societies. The Lokayukta has also directed the state government to form a special investigation team (SIT) to re-examine the issue of public utility works carried out through MLAs local area development funds. The SIT will consist of a town planning expert, the district collector, and the principal secretary to the urban development department. The authorities must submit a compliance report within three months.Police carry out anti-sabotage checks at city immersion ghatsSpecial Branch officers in Kolkata conducted anti-sabotage checks at major ghats along the Hooghly river due to the upcoming international cricket match between Australia and South Africa. The checks were carried out to ensure that no banned firecrackers were being carried during the immersion of idols. Traffic moved normally during the first two days of immersion, thanks to extra deployment on the routes. However, there were complaints of DJ music being played during processions, which is prohibited during immersions in Kolkata.
