Nashik: Nashik Road railway station will get an elevator and escalator on platforms 2 and 3 in the near future, providing relief to disabled passengers and senior citizens. The main foot-overbridge, constructed at the Mumbai-end of the station, connects to platform 1 and 4 through an elevator and a ramp respectively. However, there is only one staircase that connects to platform number 2 and 3, making it difficult for elderly passengers or those with impairments to move. The maximum number of major trains coming from Mumbai arrive on platform number 2, while trains heading to Mumbai arrive on platform number 3. As a large number of people access both platform number 2 and 3, citizens are in dire need of an escalator and elevator attached to the main foot overbridge. Therefore, Bhusawal divisional railways has started working on the construction of an elevator and an escalator which will help passengers easily access platform number 2/3. The administration is expediting work on these amenities. It is likely that it will be completed by January 26, said a senior officer from the divisional railway managers office Bhusawal.Nashik passengers have waited for these amenities for a long time. It is good that Kumbh Mela gave us a very wide bridge at Nashik Road railway station, but we are still waiting for better amenities to connected with platform number 2/3. The work has been going for more than 10 months. We hope that the work for the elevator and escalator ends soon, said Ramesh Patil one of the passengers.
