5-year-old male leopard rescued from Pathardi

Nashik: The Nashik forest department on Thursday morning rescued a five-year-old male leopard from Navle Mala in the Pathardi area on the outskirts of Nashik city.The forest department had set up two cages in Pathardi as a leopard had been spotted frequently in the last 10 days. On Thursday, a male leopard was trapped in one of the cages. The forest department teams rushed to the spot.Forest officials said they have conducted a medical checkup on the big cat, and the animal is medically fit.Last week, two leopards — a male and female — strayed into two different localities situated in Nashik city on the same day, November 17.A forest department team had tranquillized both the leopards and rescued them in separate incidents. The leopards had strayed into the city in search of prey and had lost their way to return to forest areas.On October 12, the Nashik forest department rescued a four-year-old female leopard from Villohi village on the outskirts of Nashik city in the early hours. The injured farmer, Nawab, suffered multiple injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The wildlife department rescued a 13-month-old female leopard, but it died due to illness. The farmers condition is currently unknown, as the police have not received official information. Villagers, however, have reported that he is fine.
