Nashik: Sandeep Karnik, the police commissioner of the city, has advised police officials to improve the response time to emergency calls as it will help in garnering vital clues after a crime is committed. After taking over the charge as the CP on Friday evening, Karnik chaired a meeting of senior police officials, including all DCPs, ACPs, senior PIs and in-charge of police departments. DCP (crime) Prashant Bachhav said, CP Sandeep Karnik guided officials of the city police on various issues. Improving response time in distress calls was one of them. The quicker the police reach an incident spot, more the chances of better police assistance.Under the Dial 112 service, a person in distress can get police help in a matter of a few minutes. There are 50 two-wheelers and four wheelers in the city under the Dial 112 Service of the Maharashtra Police, which was started in Nashik in November 2021. With a mobile data terminal (MDT) equipment and GPS in each vehicle, the police control room can track the response time of the police for every call. Senior officials said that the aim is to reduce the response time. Officials said that though the police are not everywhere, once a call is given to them either on 112 or 100, no time is wasted in reaching the caller. The police said that they get about 110 calls daily and most of them are regarding domestic and street fights, arguments, etc. Under the guidance of CP Sandeep Karnik, efforts would be to improve the response time, a senior police official said. The CP also told the officers to step up street policing, which would deter anti-social elements from indulging in criminal and illegal activities. Karnik also told police officials to treat applications related to security of women and girls very seriously and take swift action in such cases. DCP (Zone 1) Kiran Kumar Chavan said, The CP has advised us to step up preventive action against criminals and improve the detection rate.We also published the following articles recentlyPolice trace 13-year-old missing boy in NashikAhmednagar police trace 13-year-old boy who went missing after scoring low marks in exams; Parents register missing complaint; Search undertaken, boy found within 6 hours; Boy admits leaving due to low marks; Handed over to parents.Akbaruddin Owaisi booked for threatening Police official, BJP says "KCR unable to manage law and order"AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi has been booked under IPC section 353 for obstructing official duties after threatening a police officer during a campaign in Hyderabad.
