Malegoan court turns down Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Advay Hiray’s bail plea

Nashik: The Court of additional sessions judge SU Baghele on Tuesday rejected the bail application for Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Advay Hiray. After having heard both sides on Monday, the court reserved its order in the case of Hiray, who was arrested by Ramzanpura police for allegedly defrauding NashikDistrict Central Cooperative Bank for Rs 7.4 crore, which was taken as a loan from the bank in 2013.It was alleged that the funds were transferred to a cooperative bank, which is headed by Hiray.We are waiting for the complete order based on which, we will take a call on the future courses of action, said Jayant Dinde, the Shiv Sena (UBT) sampark pramukh of Nashik Rural. Hiray was arrested on November 16 and then remanded in police custody until November 23, after which he was remanded in judicial custody until December 5. Hirays lawyers had claimed that there was no point in keeping the accused in judicial custody given the fact that his family was native to Malegaon and that the investigations were all done. The counsel, Aseem Sarode, had also claimed that the MPID Act provisions were wrongly slapped on Hiray. During the hearing, the police maintained that Hiray could tamper with the evidence and also influence the witnesses in the case.
