MNS workers blacken English signboards of shops in Nashik city

Nashik: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) activists on Thursday blackened the English signboards of a few shops in Nashik, alleging that the business establishments had not displayed their names in the Marathi (Devanagari) script in bold letters. A group of MNS workers asked shop owners to have signboards in Marathi within two days. The BMC has formed a team of officers in each ward to enforce this. The state cabinet approved the amendment to the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments Act, requiring even shops with fewer than 10 workers to have Marathi nameplates. Non-compliant shops will face legal repercussions, including fines.
