Nashik: The district administrations in Nashik and Ahmednagar have been asked to initiate steps to acquire land for the Nashik-Pune semi-highspeed railway line passing through Nashik, Ahmednagar and Pune districts. According to the officials, the meeting was conducted by deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar before Diwali, and the district administrations were told to take measures to buy land from the farmers. Land is being directly bought from the farmers. However, since there were no funds available, the process had come to a standstill in the past year. The minister is keen on the project and has instructed the administrations to put forth the revised demand for funds to the MahaRail — a joint venture between the railways and state government for the project, a senior official from district administration said.Accordingly, the Nashik and Ahmednagar district administrations have presented a demand of Rs 100 crore each to the MahaRail. Once the funds are received the process to buy land will begin again. In Nashik, the funds will help buy land from farmers in the Sinnar taluka, while in Ahmednagar, the funds will be used to buy land in the Sangamner taluka. On being asked if the land in Nashik taluka was finalized, the official said, There were still some technical issues that the MahaRail needs to clear. Until that happens, the work of joint measurement and finalization of land price cannot be done. Now the district administration is waiting for clear directions on this issue. In Nashik district a total of around Rs 270 crore will be required to acquire around 280 hectares of land, while in Ahmednagar Rs 250 crore will be required to buy 245 hectares. We also published the following articles recentlyVillagers stall measurement of land for MIDC expansionVillagers in Mahad, India, thwarted land measurement work for the proposed acquisition of 323 hectares of land for the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) expansion.
