Surprise drives for triple-seat bikers, modified silencer users

Nashik: The Nashik police have decided to conduct surprise drives in different parts of the city during evening hours to check for triple-seat riders, those using screeching horns and people with modified silencers.DCP Chandrakant Khandvi said the police conducted a surprise drive on Thursday and another drive has been planned under the guidance of police commissioner Sandeep Karnik.As per Karniks instructions, the police would also be coordinating with the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) to solve the vehicle parking problem in the city.DCP Khandvi said, Under the guidance of the police commissioner, a series of drives have been planned. However, these would be surprise drives. Apart from people found riding bikes without helmets and motorists not using seatbelts, the focus would be on triple-seat riders and those who have modified the silencers of their bikes.Khandvi said a few days ago, they undertook a similar drive in different areas when close to 300 bikers were penalized. He said the police would also be working on finding a solution to the citys illegal parking menace. Illegal parking not only leads to traffic jams but often, also leads to accidents.
