PATNA: Chinese national Tiandong, who was arrested from the Patna guesthouse of a Chinese cellphone manufacturing firm on Sunday, was forwarded to Beur jail on Monday even as the Chinese firm disowned his crime saying it was committed in his personal capacity.“OPPO’s India business has deep regard and respect for the laws of the land. Two IMFL bottles were recovered from the room in which he was staying.A bottle of liquor was also recovered from the room of another Chinese national, Wu Chuangyong, who was not at the guesthouse. We will take necessary action and ensure that this kind of incident does not happen in the future.”Tiandong was arrested from a guesthouse under the Gardanibagh police station area for violation of prohibition laws of Bihar . The actions by the employees in question were undertaken in their personal capacities and in no way represent the company’s views or intentions,” the firm said in a statement mailed to TOI on Monday. It further reads, “We are cooperating with the local authorities to ensure smooth investigation and will provide all possible information required. Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj said Chuangyong was in another town and efforts were on to nab him.“We have not received any communication from the Chinese embassy or the firm,” Maharaaj said.Sources said police raided the guesthouse on a tip-off from central intelligence agencies that suspected Chinese nationals were in Patna on business visas instead of working visas. The SSP, however, said the visas and passports found during the raid were in order.
