Now choicebased credit system in PU

PATNA: Patna University (PU) is the first university in the state to introduce choice-based credit system (CBCS) in all its postgraduate academic programmes from the current academic session. Special attention and mentoring support would be provided to various categories of students, PU sources said.A two-day workshop on CBCS for PG programmes organized by PU commenced at Wheeler Senate House on Monday. Addressing the participants, PU pro-VC Dolly Sinha highlighted the various academic aspects of CBCS. PU pro-VC Dolly, Patna Science College principal Radha Kant Prasad, geology department head Atul Aditya Pandey, physics teacher Ashok Kumar Jha and other teachers of the college addressed the newly admitted students. In the meet, the freshers will be explained about CBCS curriculum with emphasis on elective courses.

PATNA: Patna University (PU) is the first university in the state to introduce choice-based credit system (CBCS) in all its postgraduate academic programmes from the current academic session. Classes based on CBCS curricula in all the PG courses shall commence on Tuesday.The students admitted to the three-year degree courses and postgraduation courses in Patna University are to start their innings on Tuesday as per the original schedule. The process of admission has already been completed as scheduled. The entire process was online, right from submission of application forms to crediting admission fee along with other miscellaneous charges to the university bank accounts. Admissions against seats reserved for wards of university teachers and non-teaching staff and those for candidates having proficiency in fine arts and sports have also been finalized.The induction meet for the students of PG programmes would be held after July 18 as per PU notification. In the meet, the freshers will be explained about CBCS curriculum with emphasis on elective courses. They would also be explained about cross cutting issues such gender sensitization, environment sustainability, skill enhancement course, value education and professional ethics and Swachh Bharat Mission, etc.The PG department heads have been directed to identify students into different groups such as below average learner, average learner and excellent learners through suitable mechanism to be decided by the departmental council. All teachers of PG departments and directors and coordinators of PG self-financing courses attended the workshop.Meanwhile, Patna Science College organized an induction programme for the students of BSc Part I honours at the college gymnasium on Monday. Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, former PU vice-chancellor K K Jha recalled the old glory of the college and asked the students to work for its restoration by adhering to strict discipline and hard labour. PU pro-VC Dolly, Patna Science College principal Radha Kant Prasad, geology department head Atul Aditya Pandey, physics teacher Ashok Kumar Jha and other teachers of the college addressed the newly admitted students.
