PATNA: Two Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) employees and three women teachers of government schools were arrested late on Thursday evening in connection with alleged irregularities in declaration of Bihar Elementary Teacher Eligibility Test (BETET) results in 2011.While the three women teachers were arrested on charges of securing job by producing fake documents, the BSEB employees were nabbed for tampering with the results which helped 16 candidates join government schools. The 13 other accused teachers are yet to be arrested.BSEB chairman Anand Kishor said an FIR had been lodged against three exam board employees – Jata Shankar Mishra (assistant, central section) Amitesh Kumar (assistant programmer) and Ranjit Mishra (a fourth grade staff of central section) – with Kotwali police station on Thursday. “The complaint was lodged on the basis of the statement of exam board’s vigilance officer Surya Narayan Singh,” Kishor said on Friday.“While Jata Shankar and Amitesh were arrested on Thursday, Ranjit is still absconding. The three women teachers were arrested from Choti Balia village in Begusarai . They teach in different schools,” the BSEB chairman added.Earlier, the VIB had found discrepancies in recruitment of 16 government teachers on the basis of their BETET-2011 results. “The teachers had produced forged documents to get government job with the help of BSEB employees,” Kishor said.“The BSEB had constituted a committee on July 13 to probe alleged discrepancies in BETET-2011 results. The committee, comprising chief vigilance officer of BSEB Sudhir Shrivastava and vigilance officers Rajiv Kumar and Surya Narayan Singh, found the allegations to be true. The committee submitted its report on Thursday following which an FIR was lodged against the erring teachers and exam board employees with Kotwali police station,” Kishor added. Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj said a special investigation team has been constituted to probe the case. “City SP Amarkesh D is leading the SIT. Other members of the team are DSP (law and order) and eight inspectors. Raids are being conducted in Supaul , Patna and Begusarai to arrest the rest of the 13 accused teachers,” Maharaaj added.Kishor said the BSEB would form a cell on Saturday to register complaints against such teachers who have secured job in government schools by producing fake documents. “The names of the complainants will be kept secret,” Kishor said.
