PATNA: Police seized more than one lakh answer sheets of Class XII examinations conducted by the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) from a scrapyard in Ram Krishna Nagar locality of the city late on Friday night.Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj said scarp dealer Raj Kishore Gupta was arrested in connection with the recovery. “Gupta had an agreement with BSEB for purchasing answer sheets for recycling. He was authorised to purchase answer sheets of examinations conducted by the BSEB till 2016. However, he had also purchased answer sheets of examinations conducted in 2017,” the SSP said, adding Gupta owns at least five scrapyards in the state capital. “All his scrapyards will be raided by the police,” Maharaaj said.The SSP added an FIR had been lodged against Gupta with Kotwali police station by the BSEB on Friday. “Gupta’s scrapyard at Ram Krishna Nagar was raided on the basis of the FIR. He had procured the answer sheets from Marwari College in Darbhanga by paying Rs 8,000 to a peon,” he said.In June this year, more than 40,000 answer sheets of Class X examinations conducted by BSEB were found missing from the strong room of S S Girls Senior Secondary School in Gopalganj. Five persons, including school principal Pramod Kumar Srivastava, were arrested in this connection.Valuables stolen from two flats: Thieves decamped with valuables from two flats at Lakhan Apartment under the Rupaspur police station area in the city on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. SHO of Rupaspur police station Deepak Kumar said the thieves entered the flats by breaking open the main doors when the guards were fast asleep.One arrested: Police on Saturday arrested one Gaurav Kumar (26) from Kadamkuan on charges of firing at a woman and her daughter at their rented accommodation at Daudbigha under the Agamkuan police station area in Patna in the wee hours of Friday. Another accused in the case, Sanjeet Singh, is yet to be arrested. City SP (east) Rajendra Kumar Bheel said raids were being conducted to arrest Sanjeet.
