PATNA: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday said his government would not spare those found guilty in some “glaring incidents” which have taken place recently, in an oblique reference to the rape of at least 34 minor girls in a shelter home at Muzaffarpur Addressing a large gathering after unfurling the tricolour at Gandhi Maidan on the occasion of Independence Day , Nitish said, “Some glaring incidents have recently come to light. The guilty will not be spared. Our emphasis is on quick investigation, arrests of the accused and speedy trial. We will try to uphold law and order under all circumstances.”The CM also reiterated his government’s zero tolerance on corruption. “Our government has never compromised on the issue of corruption. We will not compromise even in the future. Whosoever is found involved in corruption, be it a public servant or an organisation, nobody will be spared,” he said.The CM also made a slew of announcements for youths from the scheduled caste (SC), scheduled tribe (ST) and other backward classes (OBC) groups. “The youths from these sections will get a grant of Rs 1 lakh to purchase vehicles with a capacity of carrying four to 10 passengers,” the CM said. He added steps would also be taken to give benefits to contractual employees in various government departments on the recommendations of a high-level committee.He said a centralised police control room with toll free number 100 would soon be set up for access by persons in case of road mishaps and crime incidents.The CM said maintaining social harmony in the state was one of the topmost priorities of his government. “We will continue to make efforts to maintain social harmony in the state,” Nitish added.Earlier, the CM inspected the parade and took salute of the contingents from various wings of police, other security forces and NCC cadets.
